Cadillac Cien
An Astonishing Fusion of Design and Technology
|
| | It's no surprise that the Cien, Cadillac's blueprint for the future, won Best Concept Award at the 2002 North American Auto Show. The Cien's low, sleek appearance, inspired by the latest F-22 Stealth fighter, is a striking, modern design that is unlike anything you've ever seen. An Adjustable Rear Spoiler works to stabilize the car and with a 7.5 litre Northstar XV12 Engine generating an astounding 750 horsepower, you're going to need it. You'll also benefit from the Cien's advanced Rearview Camera System which enables you to keep track of vehicles behind you effortlessly. Once you get behind the wheel of a Cien, driving anything else just won't feel right. With Cadillac, the future is here.

Northstar XV12 Engine
Cien features the all-new Northstar XV12, a 7.5 litre dual-overhead cam (DOHC) engine that generates an amazing 750 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. GM's Displacement on Demand technology allows the engine to run seamlessly on six cylinders to maximize fuel savings. Other advanced features are the direct injection gasoline combustion system for increased engine power, and a combined starter generator.
Semi-Automatic Transmission Formula 1-inspired column-mounted electronic paddles control the Cien's semi-automatic transmission. These paddles are in close proximity to the steering wheel, enabling drivers to keep their hands on or close to the wheel when shifting for ultimate control.
Adjustable Rear Spoiler An active spoiler works with the wind to automatically adjust depending upon the speed of the vehicle. At faster speeds the spoiler works to create more downforce on the rear of the vehicle, stabilizing the car.
Carbon Fiber Body The Cien's body and chassis are produced from durable and lightweight carbon fibre composite. This material has a superior rigidity-to-weight ratio and is also used in aircrafts, spaceships and racing cars.
Side Air Intake and Exhaust Vents The Cien's body side has built-in electronically controlled air inlets and outlets. The specially designed active vents help the engine produce more power by cooling the air around it. There are also two sail panels which direct air to the XV12 engine.
